Matt Cooney, GIS Technical Director at Colorado College, would like to invite you to a Geospatial Technology event to be held at the brand new Data Visualization Wall in Tutt Library on Wednesday September 27th at 3 p.m.  We have the honor of hosting Dr. Joseph Kerski, Education Manager at Esri (maker of ArcGIS software).  The event will start with a showcase of local GIS users and educators giving lightning presentations followed by Dr. Kerski presenting the following:

The 5 Forces Catapulting GIS into Education and Society

DrKerskiJoin Geographer Joseph Kerski as we discuss citizen science, storytelling, geo-awareness, geotechnologies, and geo-enablement—the 5 forces that are catapulting GIS into additional departments on university campuses and into the greater society.   Find out how you can take advantage of these forces to further your own career that uses geotechnologies and how you can make a positive difference in our communities and in our world.

About Joseph Kerski:   Joseph holds three degrees in geography and has served in private industry (Esri), the public sector (NOAA, US Census Bureau, USGS), nonprofit (president of the National Council for Geographic Education), and academia (MOOCs with several universities and as instructor at the University of Denver since 2000).  His focus is the application of GIS at all levels of education nationally and internationally.
