Rules

General Information
  • The game shall be played between two teams of 3 players.
  • The co-ed rule is in effect for all games: two members of any under-represented gender must be on the field of play at all times. A team may start and play with one member of any under-represented gender but must play a person-down until the second person of any under-represented gender arrives at the game. Participants are not permitted to "jump" teams and must stay on only one team. Failure to observe these guidelines will result in a forfeit by the offending team.
  • The team may start the game with 2 players but the co-ed rule must still be observed.
  • A match will be two four-minute halves with the clock running continuously. The match will be won by the team who, after the time limit has expired, scored the most goals.
  • In the case that time has expired and both teams have won the same number of games, there will be a one-on-one sudden victory period.
Players
  • 3 bubbleballers per team + subs (play is co-ed in nature: one member of any under-represented gender(s) must be on the field at all times)
  • Substitutions made on the fly any time or during stoppage of play
  • There is no goal keeper
  • NO CLEATS
Length of Game
  • Two Four-minute halves (Players appreciate the breaks)
  • Time is not stopped for out of bounds but only for timeouts and injuries
  • One one-minute time outs available for each team
Equipment
  • Bubbleballs (provided)
  • Knee pads (optional)
  • Soccer ball x 3 (referee will always carry 2nd ball in hand to put on field when ball goes out of bounds)
  • Small goals x 2
  • NO CLEATS
Rules
  • Ball placed at center field to begin with all bubbleballers at least 10 feet away from center but no more than 20 feet. (Players should NOT line up at the baseline as some videos show or other rules may suggest. Extensive head on runs from long distances may increase the chance of damage to your equipment.)
  • Bubbleballer can not hold and run with ball in hand
  • When ball goes out of bounds, referees will throw ball back in play ASAP
  • There are no offside rules
Fouls, Violations, Penalties

Fouls and warnings may be called for the following. The official may elect to give a 2 minute penalty to a player, in which case they must sit out like in hockey.

    • Preventing a bubbleballer from getting up
  • Illegal tackle
    • Tripping
