Second Saturday Sunday Series - Home Run Derby
Rosters Due: Register Here by Friday, April 4, 5:00 pm
What: Home Run Derby with Wiffle Ball equipment
Play Begins: 12pm on Sunday, April 6
Where: North Olson Field - artificial turf north of Stewart Field (weather plan - Fitness Center Rec Gym and/or Reid Arena)
Pre-registration is required for Home Run Derby. The email address that the captain submits on the official roster form will be used to communicate information prior to the start of the tournament regarding schedules, rules, policies, and procedures. All equipment necessary to compete in the tournament will be provided by Campus Rec. All outdoor tournaments will be "weather dependent" with the possibility of moving the competition day in the case of inclement weather.
Rules
Second Saturday Series - Home Run Derby will be played using a 10-out format. Final details will be determined depending on the number of registered participants.
Pitching
- A pitcher will be provided, however a replacement may be chosen by the hitter from available players/spectators at the beginning of each round.
- Pitchers may be replaced in the middle of a round.
- Pitches should be thrown from a position that is comfortable for all hitters. The recommended distance is approximately 40 feet from home plate.
- The hitter may ask for pitches to be thrown a particular way to make them easier to hit.
- Any pitch speed or angle is "legal" and may be hit for a home run or out.
- Before the official start of the game, each participant is allowed five warm-up swings.
- Any pitch may be swung at.
- Any hit ball traveling in the air over the wall in fair territory is a Home Run
- Any fair/foul dispute may be ruled fair or foul with a majority rule.
- Any swing not a Home Run is an Out.
- A Round is completed when a hitter reaches 10 Outs.
- If an advancing participant is needed and a round ends in a tie, a Hit-Off is played
Batters hit in the same order as the regular round.
A Hit-Off is completed when a hitter reaches 2 Outs.
If possible, a neutral pitcher pitches to all batters.
Hit-Offs are repeated until one player wins the round.
