E-Waste Recycling

E-waste, or electronic waste, includes devices that are no longer working, unwanted, or at the end of their life. While modern electronics are safe to use above ground, many contain toxic materials that can pose serious environmental risks when buried in landfills. As technology continues to advance rapidly and the volume of e-waste grows, it is important to be mindful of our consumption and responsibly recycle older devices.

E-waste recycling at Colorado College is available for college-owned electronics only and is not open to the public at this time.

Where to Recycle?

If you have a small amount of e-waste, we encourage you to use one of the campus drop-off bins. These bins primarily collect small electronics, batteries (see battery guidelines below), and printer ink cartridges.

Drop-off bin locations:

  • The basement of Worner Campus Center (across from the stairs)
    • Ink and toner cartridges are accepted here.
  • First floor of Tutt Library (across from the front welcome desk)
    • Ink and toner cartridges are accepted in Tutt Library (next to ITS).
  • Office of Sustainability (first floor)

For large items or multiple items of e-waste, please schedule a pickup or drop-off with the Office of Sustainability. During the academic year, please fill out the form - located on the sidebar. During summer, you can reach out directly to Program Manager, Mae Rohrbach at mrohrbach@coloradocollege.edu.

The Office of Sustainability also hosts e-waste collection events five times a year. Details are shared through on-campus communications. See more information on the sidebar.

All college-owned computers must be processed through ITS to ensure secure data wiping and proper disposal.

For more information on:
