The Creative Courage Cohort for Students
“At its core, creative confidence is about believing in your ability to create change in the world around you. It is the conviction that you can achieve what you set out to do. We think this self-assurance, this belief in your creative capacity, lies at the heart of innovation.”
– David Kelley and Tom Kelley, Creative Confidence
What is a Creative Courage Cohort?
The Creative Courage Cohort gives students tools and techniques for creative thinking and problem solving that they can bring into personal and academic endeavors. While many people equate creativity with producing artistic masterpieces, creativity is, in fact, mindsets, ways of opening yourself up to and finding more and richer possibilities for interacting with the peoples, places, and things in our world.
The Creative Courage Cohort takes place over the course of two afternoons during which students connect with their creative selves and each other, and explore how these mindsets are intertwined with learning and identity. In the process, they get to to switch between divergent and convergent thinking, and harness playfulness and experimentation.
Following the cohort, students can participate in additional creativity exercises at Creativity & Innovation (C&I) to continue practicing the skills and aptitudes they learnt in the cohort and applying them in real-world contexts. Interested students also have opportunities to train to become paid C&I student workers and facilitators of creativity exercises on campus.
