Opportunities for Funding

Partnership Programs for Summer Workshops

Each year, the Anderson Ranch Art Center and The Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts offer a handful of scholarships for summer workshops to promising Colorado College students. Senior students are not eligible due to the timing of the workshops.

Students apply with a statement and a portfolio late in the fall semester through the Career Center. The CC Art Studio Program Director or Chair serves as a liaison. CC faculty and staff work closely with the selected students to help with the selection of workshops that are both fitting to the CC Art program and suited to their particular interests.

Eligibility for summer workshop program: First Year, Sophomore, and Junior students, any major

Timeline: The next round of applications will open in fall 2025.

Anderson Ranch Art Center

Anderson Ranch offers partnership scholarships that generally cover tuition expenses for summer workshops. The Art Department offers additional support (up to $1,000) to help cover additional expenses, such as room and board, and travel to and from Anderson Ranch. Nominated students must submit a detailed proposal to the Art Department outlining the reasons for taking the selected workshop and a budget. Anderson Ranch typically offers 6 partnership scholarships: 2 in Printmaking/Painting, 1 in Photography, and 3 in 3D Arts.

Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts

Arrowmont offers a "match" program for two promising junior Art majors each year. The scholarships cover a one-week summer workshop, dormitory housing, and a stipend that can be used for materials or travel expenses. Arrowmont covers half of each scholarship and the Colorado College Art Department covers the other half of each scholarship. Nominated students must submit a detailed proposal to the Art Department outlining the reasons for taking the selected workshop and a budget.

Project-Oriented Funding for Students

Declaired Art department majors and minors, as well as majors in other departments, can apply for financial support from the Art Department for extraordinary art projects. Projects should be outside any required course, thesis or capstone work. The award supports materials, supplies, and travel expenses in the service of a creative or research project that connects to study in the visual arts (or related fields) in one of the department’s four concentrations. It does not cover entertainment expenses, i.e. food for an exhibition opening.

Interested students should contact a professor in the department to serve as their faculty advisor on the project.

The maximum award is $1300 for Art majors and $650 for Art minors or majors in other departments. The department caps the total amount per semester. Students can receive project support once during their career at CC; support may be combined with a Venture grant or other college funding. Collaborative projects are encouraged. Proposals will be reviewed by Art faculty and awarded based on merit. The award money is payable upon presentation of receipts. Upon completion of the project, the student send their department advisor and chair a brief report summarizing the outcomes of the project.

Application procedures are aligned with the Venture Grant procedures for clarity and efficiency, as follows:

  • Interested students should contact a professor in the Art Department to serve as their faculty advisor on the project.
  • Proposals must be received by the advisor by the first Friday of the block in order to be considered at the Department meeting for that block.
  • Collaborative projects are encouraged, but each student should submit a proposal individually, and will receive individual funding.
  • If funded, the department administrator notifies the student of their award and directs the student to the Academic Administrative Assistant for help with receipt documentation and requesting reimbursement.

Amount: up to $1300 for Art majors and $650 for Art minors or majors in other departments

Eligibility: CC students meeting the above requirements

Deadline: Proposals are due on the First Friday of each block to an advisor in the Art Department.
