Student Research & Internship Symposium

The SCoRe (Summer Collaborative Research) and Internship Symposium is the culminating event after a summer of collaborative research and internship experiences conducted by Colorado College students and faculty as well as through off-campus organizations. It brings the CC community together for a series of short presentations, poster sessions, and discussions across a variety of academic disciplines. The collaborative research presented is funded by the Office of the Dean of the College's Faculty Student Collaborative Grant, departmental funds, internal grants, external research grants, and the Career Center’s Student Internship Funding Program.

HIIT Workout Class

Join us in the Adam F. Press Fitness Center to experience one of our many fitness classes on campus! High-intensity interval training, better known as HIIT, consists of short bursts of intense work that typically last between 15 seconds to 4 minutes. These are followed by a quick recovery period and then right back to the tough work.

You’ll work harder than you do when you do a typical cardio workout, but you’ll do it in spurts and then you’ll have a chance to recover and then you'll do it all over again.

Join us for an exclusive look into how In Her Bones evolved from a story on paper to a full-stage theatre experience. Dive into the origins of the story, explore the challenges of producing a new work (a first for the FAC), and enjoy a sneak peek into the scenic design process—including a research adventure to Colorado’s beautiful San Luis Valley, the show’s setting.

This lecture coincides with the theatre production of In Her Bones, on stage from Feb. 13–March 2, 2025

Morning Vinyasa Yoga
8:30–9:30 a.m.

This style of yoga links yoga postures together through a series of movements while coordinating these movements to your breathing. Vinyasa yoga isn’t only about working on flexibility and mobility. It’s focused on breathing with movement, building stability, strength, coordination, balance, observation, and awareness.

In addition to opening up your body, vinyasa yoga also influences the more subtle levels of your mind and awareness. Focusing on your breath and body helps you develop concentration, often resulting in a calmer and quieter mind.

Learn about the two-block Neuroscience course at Colorado College that culminates in students sharing their knowledge with children in Colorado Springs elementary schools. Since its inception in 1993, "The Amazing Brain" program has brought neuroscience education to more than 2,000 classrooms and 26,000 children.

The United States is often described, for various reasons, as the most speech-protective nation in the world. We will discuss what that means. By thinking about the history, theory, and law of the First Amendment, we will explore the progression of the constitutional protection of speech about matters of public concern, to a marketplace of ideas, to our current preoccupation with individual self-expression. We will also consider what these different conceptions of free speech mean for the current political climate around the country.

Anthony Bull | Associate Professor and Chair | Department of Human Biology and Kinesiology

Said to have been coined in the 1850s by Norwegian playwright and poet Henrik Ibsen, the idea of Friluftsliv, or spending time in the mountains, allows you to think freely and enjoy physical activity at your own pace. Friluftsliv has evolved into the idea of spending time in nature, usually engaged in physical activity, for personal wellness, but without the pressure to achieve a goal or compete. Is Friluftsliv part of the reason Scandinavian/Nordic countries rank among the seven happiest countries in the world (World Happiness Report, 2024)? Anthony Bull, PhD, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Human Biology and Kinesiology will discuss ideas related to Friluftsliv and the possibility of a future CC alumni trip to Scandinavia to practice Friluftsliv while exploring Scandinavian history and culture.

Gather your family and friends, test your knowledge, and enjoy an afternoon of fun, facts, and friendly competition with Colorado College’s Model United Nations Team! Questions will be from a variety of categories, including pop culture, politics, history, current events, global affairs, ect. Whether you’re a trivia pro or just looking for a good time, there’s something for everyone.

After trivia, stick around for an informational session with a Model UN student who attended COP29, the 2024 UN Climate Summit in Azerbaijan. Get firsthand insights and the opportunity to ask questions about key discussions, climate diplomacy, and international environmental policy.
