As your student begins their journey at Colorado College, your role is evolving too. Join us for an insightful session on how parents and families can stay connected with CC, support their students’ experience, and navigate this exciting new chapter. We’ll discuss what to expect in the first year, how the shift from high school to college changes communication—especially under The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) guidelines—and offer guidance on how to stay meaningfully engaged throughout your student’s time at CC. We're here to help you feel informed, involved, and confident in your supporting role as parents and families.
Session offered from 3-3:50 p.m.
The Block Plan is an immersive and fast-paced academic experience unlike any other, and it comes with unique opportunities and challenges. In this session, representatives from the Advising Hub, the Colket Center for Academic Excellence, the Office of Accessibility Resources, and the Career Center will guide parents through what to expect as their students navigate this distinctive learning model. We’ll discuss how coursework, advising, and academic support look different from a traditional semester system, what this shift means for student-faculty interactions, and how families can best support their students. We’ll also explore how CC prepares students for life beyond college, from career exploration to graduate school pathways.
Session offered from 4-4:50 p.m.
College is an exciting time of growth and independence, and a strong foundation of health and well-being is key to student success. This session will introduce parents and families to the many resources available to support students’ physical, mental, and emotional well-being at Colorado College. Representatives from the Health Center, Counseling Center, Student Health Insurance, and Chaplain’s Office will provide insights into medical care on campus, mental health services, spiritual support, and how students can access care when they need it. In addition, the Fitness Center and Campus Dining share how students can stay active and healthy through campus wellness programs, recreational opportunities, and nutritious dining options. We’ll also discuss how families can encourage self-care, resilience, and help-seeking behaviors to ensure students thrive both in and out of the classroom.
Session offered from 5-5:50 p.m.
College is about more than academics — it’s about connection, growth, and discovering a sense of belonging. In this session, leaders from Campus Activities, Community Engagement, The Butler Center, Outdoor Education, and Campus Recreation will share the many ways students can get involved at Colorado College. Explore how engagement enhances the student experience, and gain insight into how you can support your students in building meaningful connections, fostering resilience, and making the most of their time at CC.
6 – 7:30 p.m. Bridge Scholar Student & Family Welcome Dinner
Location: Cornerstone Main Space
Students, parents, and families are invited to dinner provided by the College with remarks from College Diversity Officer Rosalie Rodriguez.
