Grants and Funding

WES is pleased to offer two types of additional funding to WES scholars, available through application as described below.  It is best to apply early, as applications are reviewed in the order they are received, and once funding is complete for the year, no further applications will be accepted.  WES scholars have been able to have remarkable experiences with the help of this additional funding, and we encourage you to apply!

WES SPECIAL PURPOSE FUNDS

All WES Scholars are eligible to apply for Special Purpose Funds for use in 2023-2024. Seniors need to use the funds prior to graduating.

Funds can be used to support ANY activity with an academic purpose, including seminar or conference attendance, off-campus study opportunities, and other enrichment activities. Requests are expected to range from a few hundred dollars to approximately $1,000. Feel free to discuss with WES (see contact below)

The WES Scholarship Committee will accept proposals on an ongoing basis. Application will be distributed to all WES scholars in October.

The application requests a brief explanation of how these funds are related to your studies at CC. We ask that you summarize how the use of the requested funds will impact your life and time at CC.

Please note that this funding is reserved for academic use and cannot be applied to current debts or loans. It may also be limited by the terms of your other financial aid award(s). Libby Fletcher, in the CC Financial Aid Office, stands ready to help you understand the amount of financial assistance that CC can provide for the course or project, if any, and what costs you might be required to pay. Before you draft your budget, please contact Ms. Fletcher at lfletcher@coloradocollege.edu to make an appointment to review your grant application.

RISING SCHOLAR AWARDS

This program was unveiled in Spring 2021. It awards p to $5,500 for mentored summer research fellowship and up to $3,500 for an unpaid or underpaid internship.

Application will be made available to Scholars in October. Applications accepted on an ongoing basis. We will review applications as they are received.

Instructions for the application in Summit will be distributed to all WES scholars in early November.

Priority will be given to rising juniors and seniors, but rising sophomores are also eligible to apply. In all cases, the award is intended for students who will remain enrolled in one more semester after the summer of support.
