Campus Notification
In the event of an emergency...
Messaging System
The Messaging system is a multi-modal service that helps College officials provide vital emergency information to students, faculty, and staff via:
- Voice messages to home, work, and cell phones
- Text messages to cell phones, PDAs, and other text-based devices
- Written messages to e-mail accounts
- Messages to TTY/TDD receiving devices for individuals who are deaf or hard-of-hearing
To receive emergency communications or to change your contact information, you should do the following:
- Students should check or modify their emergency contact data by logging into Self Service Banner (SSB) and navigating to the "About You" section. Students should contact the Registrar's Office if additional assistance is needed.
- Students with disabilities should contact Accessibility Resources if additional assistance is needed.
- Faculty and staff should check and modify their emergency contact data via the "Personal Information" section in Self Service Banner (SSB). Faculty and staff should contact Human Resources if additional assistance is needed.
Fire Alarms
If you hear fire alarms in your building, that is the sign to evacuate. You should follow the evacuation instructions on the emergency response instruction sheet distributed throughout campus and should move to a designated assembly area outside your building that has been decided upon by your class or workgroup. This assembly area should be 300 to 500 feet away from the affected building. Once reported to this assembly area, a head count should be taken.
When evacuating buildings, remember to keep streets, fire lanes, hydrants, and walkways clear for emergency personnel and vehicles.
Do not return to the evacuated building unless instructed to do so and an "all clear" announcement is given.
