Programs

The Chaplain's Office offers numerous programs that support community, meaning making, spirituality, religious life, and contemplative practices at CC.

Chaplain's Office Programs

Shove Council is an informal, student-led discussion group with conversations covering a broad range of topics around spirituality and life. Open to all. Shove Council meets every 1st, 2nd & 3rd Wednesdays at 12:15 in Sacred Grounds. Lunch provided!

Contact Spiral Fellows Maddox m_rochmanr2023@ColoradoCollege.edu or Sara s_mai2023@coloradocollege.edu to find out more.

Student representatives of spiritual and religious organizations and practice groups meet blockly to discuss issues of spiritual and religious life on campus, foster cooperative programs, explore interfaith engagement, and build community and mutual support. Contact Chaplain’s Office chaplainsoffice@coloradocollege.edu for more information.

Grief Support Community Lunches happen every block. They are an informal space to be in community with other students experiencing and/or living with grief. Chaplain Kate Holbrook is here to support through conversation, pastoral & spiritual care, and community resources. Contact kholbrook@coloradocollege.edu for support or to learn more.

A student favorite, we host community meals of homemade soups in Sacred Grounds several times a semester.

We invite faculty and staff members to give presentations over lunch, in which they share what's been meaningful to them in their spiritual and life journeys.

Gather with other faculty & staff interested in intentional reflection, connection to heart, and community. We're excited to see what may emerge when we sit with a query and listen, hearing each other's wisdom and thoughts. Each gathering will include a short contemplative practice followed by reflection.

Contemplative Inquiry aims to create space for personal reflection in community, rather than space connected to debate or a focus on dialogue. We are invited to slow down, be rather than do, pay attention to our insights, and open ourselves to new types of growth and relationship.

Revolutionary Love Project is based on the work of activist, lawyer, and educator, Valarie Kaur.

  • Explores love as a force for justice
  • Allows space for us to wonder, grieve, rage, listen, reimagine, and fight for our futures
  • Equips us to build beloved community in presence with one another

Care Collective is a warm, welcoming space where we can replenish our cups in community and take rest amidst the whirlwind of to-dos we all face. We come together through poetry, music, movement, meditations, time outside, journaling, creating art, and much more. Come listen, come share, come help shape this space with us!

Labyrinth Walks are a meditative and reflective tool, which can provide space for staying grounded, deepening self-knowledge, emotional release, creativity, and personal transformation and healing. Spiral Fellow Sara Mai hosts guided labyrinth walks several times each semester. Questions? Email Sara: s_mai2023@coloradocollege.edu

Befriend is an opportunity to cultivate meaningful friendship through intentional reflection, spiritual practices and conversation.

During the winter months, we hold weekly nap times in Shove Side Chapel. Cushions, zero-gravity chairs, and blankets provided.

Rainbow Labyrinth is a queer spirituality group and community exploring the intersections of spirituality, sexuality and queer identity in spiritually pluralistic ways. For more information contact chaplainsoffice@coloradocollege.edu.

Baca Retreats

A couple times each year, the Chaplain's Office takes block break retreats to Baca Campus in Crestone, Colorado. Retreats offer opportunities to be in community, pause and reflect together, learn from each other, and experience the natural beauty around Crestone. Spots can fill up fast: email chaplainsoffice@coloradocollege.edu to join the Chaplain's Office Listserv and receive advance notice when retreat registrations open.

Spiral Fellows

Spiral Fellows are paid student interns for the Chaplain's Office. They support spirituality, religious life, contemplative practices and meaning-making on campus. Spiral Fellows facilitate Shove Council discussions, design and lead programs for the student body, help advertise for the office, and explore their own interests in spirituality, religious life, and contemplative practices.
