Spencer Center
After completing renovations in late 2014, the Spencer Center is now the highest performing building on campus for measures of sustainability and is viewed as a model for future construction and renovation.
- LED lighting throughout
- Variable refrigerant flow (VRF) system capable of sourcing or returning excess heat from/to the campus chilled water loop
South Hall
Renovations in 2014 were carried out with sustainability in mind, yielding a decrease in energy use of 11% following completion.
- Heat recovery ventilators recirculate exhaust heat
- Low-flow toilets and showerheads
- High-temperature hot water heating system replaced steam
- Improvements to the building's thermal envelope
Tutt Library
Re-opened in the fall of 2017, Tutt Library became the largest academic library to acheive net-zero energy construction.
- Geothermal energy field on Armstrong Quad
- 115-kilowatt rooftop solar array
- 400-kilowatt offsite solar array
- Green roof-top garden
- 130-kilowatt combined heat and power system
