Spencer Center

After completing renovations in late 2014, the Spencer Center is now the highest performing building on campus for measures of sustainability and is viewed as a model for future construction and renovation.

  • LED lighting throughout
  • Variable refrigerant flow (VRF) system capable of sourcing or returning excess heat from/to the campus chilled water loop

South Hall

Renovations in 2014 were carried out with sustainability in mind, yielding a decrease in energy use of 11% following completion.

  • Heat recovery ventilators recirculate exhaust heat
  • Low-flow toilets and showerheads
  • High-temperature hot water heating system replaced steam
  • Improvements to the building's thermal envelope

Tutt Library

Re-opened in the fall of 2017, Tutt Library became the largest academic library to acheive net-zero energy construction.

  • Geothermal energy field on Armstrong Quad
  • 115-kilowatt rooftop solar array
  • 400-kilowatt offsite solar array
  • Green roof-top garden
  • 130-kilowatt combined heat and power system
