Collegium Musicum is Colorado College's ‘Early-Music’ ensemble focusing on repertoire from the Renaissance, Baroque and Classical periods. Collegium performs on instruments contemporary to the eras being studied, giving students the opportunity to learn recorders, baroque instruments, viols and more. The group performs a broad array of music including many of its own arrangements. Students play a role in the process of re-creating music that, despite its great age, is not forgotten.
Elisa Wicks is the director of the ensemble and does everything she can to create a warm inclusive environment while fostering a spirit of curiosity. In addition to music, performances incorporate a variety of media including the possibilities of poetry reading, dance, collaboration with other members of the department, and the involvement of other instrumental ensembles and vocal performers. Come join the fun!
Some musical background is recommended.
