Professor Amelia Taylor
B.A. St. Olaf College 1994
M.S. Purdue University 1997
Ph.D. University of Kansas 2000
Amelia Taylor joined the faculty after teaching several years at St. Olaf College (her alma mater) in Minnesota. With the help of her lively personality and seemingly boundless energy, she soon became a key figure at the college and in the department. Colorado was a good fit for her since she was an avid skier and cyclist.
She brought to the department a keen interest in computational algebra and a network of colleagues across the country. She was quite active in attending conferences and helping manage an open source computational algebra software system. After earning tenure, her interest in algebraic statistics led her to fill in her knowledge of undergraduate statistics and to teach the second level statistics course developed by Tinsley and Janke.
Dr. Taylor served as both assistant chair and chair of the department during her time at Colorado College.
