Bio
Christian Abigail Gonzalez (she/they pronouns) was born and raised on Chumash peoples land in Santa Maria, CA to immigrant parents from Guerrero and Guanajuato, Mexico. A first-generation college graduate, they earned their Bachelor of Arts in Ethnic Studies from the University of Colorado Boulder and Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration and Leadership from Adams State University in Alamosa, CO.
Over the past 10 years, Christian has dedicated their career to working in higher education in various capacities including outreach, enrollment management, financial aid, student affairs, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). The running river that ties their work together is advocating for educational equity for historically and presently marginalized students in higher education. Most recently, they advised and supported undocumented students at the University of California San Diego and Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. Their love for the undocumented community empowered them to work towards dismantling systems of oppression that prevent undocumented folks from opportunities for upward mobility.
Christian is proud to be from the Montbello neighborhood in far northeast Denver and loves spending time with their family on the weekends, including their niece and nephew, Lupita and Jose.
