Stringies: Armless sunglasses
The current sunglasses industry is extremely wasteful. Most sunglasses are designed to survive up to a few years (if that), partially due to the usually brittle and fragile arms. By eliminating sunglass arms, the average sunglasses lifespan could increase drastically, thus reducing the strain on unsustainable sources. Stringies Armless Sunglasses is a sustainable, armless sunglass design that clings to the wearer's head with a string and fastener. This more resilient design allows for a simple, localized manufacturing process. The project tests the viability of the design, the potential of the manufacturing process, and the product adoption among potential customers. Moreover, by proving that localized manufacturing doesn't equate to expensive products, the project creates a decentralized manufacturing process that challenges the industry's status quo.
