Shelter in play
Shelter in Play explores how we interact with physical spaces. Specifically, how play elements can be embedded into temporary structures to encourage movement. The goal of this project is to redefine how we understand the space we occupy by using a modular framework for net construction. At a time when social interaction is at a crossroads as we near the end of the pandemic, these movable structures will encourage interaction and exploration through shared, public space allowing for as much or as little social overlap as desired by participants. The structures are primarily constructed out of rope, canvas, and various seating and ramp levels, making them not only accessible for many students but transportable for ‘pop-up art installations as well. The project will further develop the structures by incorporating different materials, including various-sized struts and steel tubing.
