Fees
Counseling Center Fees and Insurance Billing
The first six counseling appointments are free.
No student is denied counseling services because of financial hardship, and arrangements can be made with the counselor and the Dean's office to provide financial support for services from The Counseling Center. Billing for services are charged to the student's account at the college. Students may also wish to make arrangements about billing due to confidentiality reasons. The Counseling Center does not bill private insurance companies directly. Students are provided a charge slip that can be submitted to their private insurance for reimbursement.
Sessions after the first six are charged $40 per session.
This fee can be charged directly to your student account. Other arrangements can be made to maintain student confidentiality. Fees may be waived after the first six under certain circumstances. Please talk to your counselor about this. The six free sessions are repeated every year. Students may request a scholarship to cover the cost of counseling. Students should talk to their counselor directly about this.
Psychiatrist Appointments and Medications
The fees for the psychiatrist are $200 for the initial evaluation and $100 for follow up appointments. These charges are billed the same way as counseling sessions. Nurse practitioner appointments are $100 for an initial session and $75 for follow up sessions. Scholarship funds are available to cover the cost of psychiatrist visits. Please talk to your counselor about this. No student is refused visits because of financial hardship.
Private Medical Insurance
Students will receive a receipt (walk-out statement) in their campus mailbox from the Counseling Center which they can use for reimbursement from their insurance company or flexible spending account.
Student Health Insurance
Students who carry the Colorado College Student Health Insurance through Blue Cross/Blue Shield are covered at 100% for all counseling and psychiatrist services for sessions at the Counseling Center. There is no direct charge to the student.
