The Colorado College Minor in Global Health prepares students to understand issues of global health from a comprehensive, and multidisciplinary perspective. The minor explores the nexus between human relations and the biological realm, prompting students to consider the many factors that influence global health outcomes. The Global Health Program Minor provides students with a comprehensive understanding of factors related to illness, health, and healing from an interdisciplinary perspective that transcends narrow disciplinary silos.

The Global Health Program emphasizes a balance between critical thinking and real world experience. Students must take a selection of courses from both the Natural and Social sciences in order to gain a true Liberal-Arts based understanding of Global Health. One that includes disciplines ranging from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physiology, to Political Science, Sociology, Anthropology and Economics.

Through coursework in the minor students will address critical areas in global health studies, including sustainability/development, public health and medicine, policy, and biological perspectives on health. This course of study will allow students to pursue a wide range of career paths, from work in international development or public health policy to clinical practice or research in medicine.

Preparing students for either graduate study or a career in medicine, public health, or international policy, the minor encourages hands-on exposure to the field with the option to complete a full-time internship as the capstone experience. Other students will work with faculty on a comprehensive project integrating their understanding of the various sub-fields.
