Patrizia Herminjard
Originally from Switzerland, Patrizia Herminjard is a choreographer, filmmaker, dancer, mother, and educator with a passion for exploring human connection through movement and digital media. Currently a lecturer in the Theater & Dance Department at Colorado College (Class of ’96), her work focuses on creating socially engaged projects for the stage and screen.
Patrizia’s approach to her craft has been shaped by the guidance and inspiration of Yunyu Wang, Pearl Lang, Donald McKayle, and Eiko Otake, whose mentorship continues to influence her work as an artist and educator. She serves as the Director of Cinematic Engagement for the International Museum of Dance (IMOD), where she supports the democratization of Dance Cinema by curating accessible and thought-provoking content.
Her collaborative screendance projects have been featured at the Dance on Camera Festival, Dance Camera West Dance Media Festival, San Francisco Dance Film Festival, and the Sans Souci Festival of Dance Cinema. Patrizia has been grateful to receive recognition for her choreography through the Pikes Peak Arts Council Award for Excellence in Choreography on three occasions and has contributed to the American College Dance Association as a board member.
Committed to fostering cultural exchange, Patrizia has co-produced the Moving Southwest Dance Festival in Santa Fe for IMOD and directed the Colorado College Dance Festival, which brought together contemporary dancers from Taiwan and the United States. Her performance experience includes national tours with the Martha Graham Dance Ensemble, and her international teaching has reached students in Canada, China, Switzerland, and Taiwan.
