Jessica "JC" Creveling earned the Young Scientist Award (Donath Medal) and a cash prize of US$10,000 for outstanding achievement as an early career professional from the Geological Society of America. Creveling is an Assistant Professor in the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences at Oregon State University. She was nominated by Jerry Mitrovica, Harvard University, for transformative contributions to understanding critical events in Earth's history through an interdisciplinary combination of comprehensive field geology, elegant, laboratory-based biogeochemistry, and state-of-the-art numerical modeling of geodynamic processes.
JC graduated Cum Laude from Colorado College in 2006 and her senior thesis was "Sedimentology, Chemostratigraphy, and biostratigraphy of Middle and Late Devonian Deposits: the Simonson, Victoria, Pinyon Peak, and Fitchville Formations of Central Utah, USA".
