Galileo Fries wins outstanding speaker award at Joint Mathematics Meetings
Colorado College mathematics major Galileo Fries won one of the Pi Mu Epsilon outstanding speaker award prizes for their presentation at the 2024 Joint Mathematics Meetings’ PME Contributed Session on Research by Undergraduates. Galileo presented their work on the “Geometry of small chemical reaction networks.” This is joint work with Elise Farr (Boston University), Vuong Nguyen (Wingate University), and Julian Hutchins (Morehouse College). The work was conducted during the 2023 Pomona Research in Mathematics Experience (PRiME) under the direction of Luis Garcia Puente and Mark Curiel (University of Hawaii at Manoa). PRiME is sponsored by the National Science Foundation (DMS-2113782).
