Haley Strom ’24 has earned a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) award in Bulgaria. This one-year scholarship is an opportunity for cultural exchange through educational and community engagement. Strom will be teaching in a local school, working with a speech and debate team, and participating in public service and extracurricular initiatives.
“I am honored and enthusiastic to learn from and with the Bulgarian community and other Fulbright scholars," says Strom. "I am particularly excited to have the flexibility of designing curriculum around language and personal interests, such as American styles of dance."
Strom says her high school Latin teacher, Michael Roy, helped her the most throughout the Fulbright process. “He is my role model for how to bring vitality into language acquisition and learning. His educational and life lessons continue to guide me as a student and person, and I am eager to pay his lessons forward through this role!”
