SO257 - in the US Southwest
This course examines the criminalization of BIPOC communities in the US Southwest through intensive field work conducted with community organizations in the region. Specific topics considered include U.S. immigration policy, U.S-Mexican border region dynamics, environmental racism, and labor dynamics. May meet either the Critical Perspectives: Global Cultures or Social Inequality requirement. (Not offered 2024-25).
Prerequisite: Sophomore standing. Spanish language skills highly recommended. consent of instructor. Program fee for field work.
