An introduction to Russia's astounding ethnic diversity: Sami, Khanty, Evenks, Nenets, Yakuts, Chukchi, and others, from Ivan the Terrible's conquests in the 16th century to Putin's policies today. We explore the impacts of colonialism, environmental and sustainability issues, and the struggle for the preservation of the peoples' languages and traditions through traditional music, costumes, dances, and literature.
