This adjunct course will introduce students to the origin and history of Chinese calligraphy and to the interrelationship between Chinese calligraphy and ink painting. This is a hands-on course; students are expected to practice Chinese calligraphy one time per week, to get to know how to use Chinese brushes and charcoal ink, and to develop an understanding of Chinese art and culture through brushwork.
