FG271 - History of Sex: Traditions

The course analyzes sexual roles and sexual practices in the world before the concept of 'sexual identity' emerged in the late nineteenth century. It examines how different religious traditions, such as Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Christianity, and Buddhism, viewed sex, and explores a wide variety of topics, including pornography, prostitution, and same-sex sexual behavior, throughout the pre-modern world.
