ED450 - Philosophy of Education

This course engages students at the intersection of philosophy and education as an applied area of humanistic inquiry. In doing so, it examines education as a concept and set of concerns central to the discipline of philosophy. It also illuminates how and why philosophy is a robust tool to critically evaluate the policies and methods of teaching, learning, and schooling. The focus of the course is on exposing, excavating, and examining the assumptions made about human nature, knowledge, and society within the context of educational practice.
